Seasonal boundary: this page covers winter weather, snow and ice, cold-weather clothing, indoor and outdoor activities, animal adaptations, observation, and season science. Christmas markets, Nativity, carols, decorations, and gift traditions remain in the separate Christmas collection; general autumn change remains on Fall.
The weather puzzles distinguish snow, sleet, freezing rain, drifting snow, wind chill, and other terms instead of treating every cold-weather event as the same. The wildlife puzzle groups insulation, migration, dormancy, torpor, camouflage, food caching, and subnivean shelter as different survival strategies.
Winter does not mean snow everywhere. Puzzle 12 uses hemispheres, Earth’s tilt, sunlight angle, latitudes, climate, and December-versus-June sunlight to show why the season varies by place and calendar.
These are the actual generated grids for puzzles 1, 6, and 10. Compare their density and word-list length before downloading.
Each theme has a separate target list, grid seed, and saved start and end coordinates.
Each stored path is read from the final grid, then every target is scanned in all eight directions to confirm one occurrence.
The second half repeats the exact activity grids with intended cells highlighted and directions labeled.
After Puzzle 6, sort the words into precipitation, wind, visibility, temperature, forecast, and road-condition groups.
Use Puzzle 8 before an outdoor walk, then record track shape, direction, stride, and nearby habitat without disturbing wildlife.
Pair Puzzle 12 with the same week’s daylight and temperature data from two cities in different hemispheres.
Choose Letter for 8.5x11-inch paper or A4 for 210x297-mm paper. Print at 100% or actual size. To keep solutions aside, print pages 1-12 first; answers begin on page 13.
Black-and-white printing works for activity pages, and the answer highlights remain visible in grayscale.
