5x5 foundations
Four compact grids for seeing how row and column clues interact.
Solve twelve original black-and-white picture logic puzzles in 5x5, 10x10, and 15x15 sizes. Every clue is derived from its final matrix, every puzzle has one verified solution, and every board solves without guessing.
Puzzles are on pages 1-12. Filled answers are on pages 13-24. No sign-up and no watermark.
Choose a page from the actual PDF contents. The links open the complete 24-page file at your selection when supported by your PDF viewer; they are not separate single-page files.
In the print dialog, enter page 1 to print only that page. Some pages contain more than one puzzle or answer.
The actual PDF preview loads when this panel is visible.

The levels describe grid size and measured solve behavior, not a tested age or grade range.
Four compact grids for seeing how row and column clues interact.
Four grids with longer runs, fifth gridlines, and more cross-line propagation.
Four larger grids with denser clues and longer deduction sequences.
Each silhouette, binary matrix, clue set, and answer is independently generated and verified.

These are the actual Crown, Mushroom, and Owl boards from the downloadable pack, not decorative mockups.
A clue of 3 1 means one run of three filled cells, then at least one blank, then one separate filled cell. The runs stay in that order.
Rows and columns narrow one another. Mark confirmed blanks with X and fill only cells forced by the clues.
Rows: 1 / 1 / 5 / 1 / 1. Columns are the same, producing a cross that is not one of the twelve downloadable boards.
Every row and column run is generated from the matrix and independently rederived for comparison.
A complete constraint solver reconstructs each board from clues alone and rejects any second valid board.
A separate line-domain solver completes every puzzle through forced row and column propagation.
Use Letter for 8.5x11-inch paper or A4 for 210x297-mm paper. Print at 100% or Actual Size. Activities are pages 1-12; answers begin on page 13.
The pack uses print-safe black and gray with thicker fifth lines on 10x10 and 15x15 boards.

Yes. Every puzzle has a matched filled solution in the second half of the same PDF.
No. All twelve puzzles were completed by line-domain propagation without a search branch.
A zero means the entire row or column is blank.
No. They are binary picture-logic puzzles using filled and blank cells for black-and-white printing.
Yes. Each PDF uses the true paper dimensions named on its download button.
These steps refer to puzzle 1, Crown. Count rows from the top and columns from the left. Fill a cell for a definite black square; mark a cross for a definite empty square.
The clue 1, 1, 1 needs three single filled cells and two separating empty cells. That uses all five positions: filled, empty, filled, empty, filled.
Rows 2 and 3 each have clue 5, so fill every cell in both rows. Column 3 also has clue 5: fill its remaining cells in rows 4 and 5.
Columns 1 and 5 each have clue 3. Their top three cells are already filled; mark their cells in rows 4 and 5 empty.
Columns 2 and 4 each have clue 4 and an empty cell in row 1. Fill rows 2-5 in both columns. The last two rows now read empty, filled, filled, filled, empty, matching their clue 3.
